The Erasmus+ project “REBALANCE - Engaging Physiotherapists and gymnasts in the digital performance of their profession for distance guidance in physical exercise” has completed the final part (A3 Skills Enhancement framework) of the result 1. With the partners of the consortium, we have created an educational methodology that will help the professionals i.a. physiotherapist, coaches, personal trainers to improve their services and to include digital practices in combination with their face-to-face services.
Now it's time to take a look on the theory of the five modules we have created for this result 1 and to give an insight of what we are working currently in result 2.
You can read more about the groundwork of the project, the survey and consultation round in this R1 Skills Enhancement Framework section (A1. Needs Verification phase), and the teaching methodology (A2. Instructional Methodology) created based on them in the already published articles 1 and 2 in the Rebalance project.
The team in Turku University of applied sciences has been working on the background theory of the module 1: Physiotherapy and Sports- things to consider when quiding exercises. This covers the basic aspects of coaching, and through the links guides the bodies that coach sports to get to know these topics in more detail.
Since digital guidance can improve results in sports and physiotherapy, it is important that its accessibility and skills are ensured, and the effectiveness of the approach is implemented for the benefit of clients. That is why in the module 2 theory, the LSU – Lietuvos Sporto Universitetas- team from Lithuania has been working on the theory of Digital Practices in Physiotherapy and Sports training.
To understand all this, module 3 opens up the evolution of digital technology and digitalisation in physiotherapy. Our team in Ireland from ATU –Atlantic Technological University gives us the sight how to carry out a client evaluation with digital online tools, to upskill client’s competence in digital platforms and how to conduct online feedback sessions before and after the evaluation and how to create a movement plan.
ATU also worked with module 5 including Data protection in digital practices of Physiotherapists and Sport Trainers. This module was created to develop to upskill practitioners in implementing general data protection regulation (GDPR) practices to ensure consumer protection and organisation compliance of data protection principles, roles and responsibilities.
In module 4, our Portugese team from ESPC – Escola Profissional de Espinho has prepared theory for the Accessibility for people with disabilities. They give an understanding and an insight of accessibility and equity, as well as the evaluation of accessibility and accessible environments also in websites.
The next step, result 2, has now started. Stay tuned while we produce material for the platform.
